WALA loves the work that Keep America Beautiful has started. They’ve organized Great American Cleanup days to get people to come together and take greater responsibility for their local environment. Keep America Beautiful inspires and educates people to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment. They have four main areas of focus: Cleanup, Greening, Education and Recycling.

Community Cleanup
Designed to aesthetically improve our environment by creating cleaner parks, streetscapes and public spaces through litter removal and elimination.

Community Greening
Gets the community involved whether it be through tree planting projects or by starting a community garden that helps feed the hungry and educate young gardeners.

Community Education
Changes attitudes and behaviors toward the environment by hosting workshops, special events and on-the-ground service projects for young and old alike.

Community Recycling
Motivates more Americans to make informed decisions and take simple, everyday actions to reduce, reuse and recycle through their participation in the Great American Cleanup.
